04/19/12: 3 ETX restaurants each cited with 20+ demerits

Three East Texas restaurants suffer serious violation under inspection.

In Longview, China King Buffet at 440 West Loop 281 was re-inspected after a February inspection where they were found to have 7 critical violations.

Imitation crab meat was held out of temperature and had to be discarded. Ice cream was held to warm, and the ice cream machine was deemed out of order.

Buffet line chicken was held too cold and had to be discarded.

Dirty utensils and plastic bins were found stored in a freezer.

Food contact surfaces were unsanitized.

Total demerits : 21.

In Tyler, Coyote Sam's Bar and Grill at 5424 Old Jacksonville Highway, an employee was observed improperly washing hands.

There were missing discard dates on several leftover cooked foods.

A dishwashing machine was not properly sanitizing.

Total demerits: 29

Shogun of Japan, 5515 South Broadway: Employee seen placing a laptop on food prep area & on top of raw meats, while other employees were prepping foods.

Bags of carrots and other cases of food stored on the floor. 

A soda gun nozzle was dirty, and debris was found in the toaster oven at sushi bar.

Total demerits: 26
