The wreck happened on Palace at Gentry Parkway around 6:20 am. Smith County Sheriff's Department officer 23-year-old Joseph Jordan was transporting two inmates identified as Alvin Odom, 32, and Shannon Wallace, 33.

According to police, Jordan was traveling westbound on W. Gentry Pkwy and was entering the intersection on a solid green light, when another vehicle traveling eastbound on W. Gentry attempted to make a left turn on a solid green light, striking the jail transport vehicle in the intersection. The vehicle was driven by 27-year-old Luis Chavez-Ibarra.

Jordan, who is employed as a Jailer, and his two passenger inmates were transported to East Texas Medical Center Hospital with minor injuries and released.
