Police: Lufkin man shows up to probation meeting drunk

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

A Lufkin man was arrested when he showed up to his probation meeting intoxicated.

Lufkin Police said Paul Darren Johnson, 48, of Lufkin, was arrested Tuesday evening, for public intoxication at the Angelina County Courthouse.

According to a police report, Johnson was detained by his probation officer when he arrived for a probation meeting and was intoxicated.

When he showed up at the courthouse for the Victim Impact Panel, probation officers said Johnson smelled that of alcohol.

Probation officers used a breathalyzer to determine if Johnson was indeed drunk, and they called Lufkin Police after determining he was.

Back in November 2011, Johnson pleaded guilty to a driving while intoxicated charge, he accepted a one year probation term.

Johnson was booked into the Angelina County Jail; he was released on the same day on a $500 bail bond.
