Yellow Rose of Texas Receives the Name "Nacogdoches"

AND FINALLY TONIGHT, THE AMOUNT OF RECENT RECOGNITION BEING GIVEN TO THE OLDEST TOWN IN TEXAS SEEMS TO BE ON THE RISE. LAST WEEK IT WAS THE WILLIE NELSON C-D ENTITLED "NACOGDOCHES" AND THIS WEEK... A YELLOW ROSE HAS ALSO BEEN NAMED FOR THE STATE'S OLDEST TOWN.

AFTER SEVERAL YEARS OF RESEARCH, TEXAS ROSE GROWERS HAVE DEVELOPED THE 'SHRUB ROSE' TO DESIGNATE AS "THE YELLOW ROSE OF TEXAS"... AND THEY DECIDED TO NAME IT NACOGDOCHES. YOU CAN SEE THIS ONE AT THE NACOGDOCHES CONVENTION AND VISITORS BUREAU.

IT'S STILL BEING TESTED AROUND THE STATE, SO YOU WON'T BE ABLE TO BUY ONE AT THIS WEEKEND'S GARDEN GALA DAY AT S-F-A, BUT YOU CAN FIND A WIDE VARIETY OF HARD TO FIND "TEXAS TOUGH" PLANTS FOR SALE. PROCEEDS FROM THE SALE GO THE SFA MAST ARBORETUM.
