SHELBY CO., TX (KTRE) – The departure of former Shelby County District Attorney Lynda K. Russell, accused in a civil lawsuit of extortion of drug money, has left the race for DA wide open.
There are four candidates vying for the Republican nomination, including interim DA Kenneth Florence. The winner of the Republican Primary will then take on the Democratic nominee, William "Stephen" Shires, who is running unopposed in the primary.
Early voting in the May 29 Primary begins May 14 and runs through May 25. The Primary Election is May 29. The General Election is November 6.
