Shelby Co. Sheriff race overview

SHELBY CO., TX (KTRE) – Incumbent Shelby County Sheriff Newton Johnson has drawn opposition in his bid for re-election.

Johnson was first elected in 2005.  He is running unopposed in the Democratic Primary.  He will have to wait for the outcome of the May 29 election to find out who he will face in November.

The candidates seeking the Republican nomination for Shelby County Sheriff are Willis B. Blackwell, Joey Haley, Troy Massey and Josh Tipton.

Early voting in the May 29 Primary begins May 14 and runs through May 25.  The Primary Election is May 29.  The General Election is November 6.
