Lil Boosie's trial continues with Day 2 of testimony

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

Day two of testimony in the first degree murder trial of rapper Torence Hatch, a.k.a. Lil Boosie, wrapped up late Sunday afternoon.

Eight witnesses were called by the state, including forensic specialists and four BRPD officers and detectives who investigated the crime scene of the October 2009 shooting death of Terry Boyd.

All of the detectives insisted the case went essentially cold with no leads.

Defense attorney Jason Williams said otherwise. He showed the detectives their report from the scene that gave a narrative of a conversation with Boyd's mother.

According to their report, Boyd's mother said a man named Michael Charles, also known as Big Mike or Big Fancy, could be connected to her son's murder in some way.

The detectives all testified that they never looked into this information, and a case agent in the District Attorney's office testified that he discovered Carter died in early 2011 of natural causes.

The defense claims that is another hole in the prosecution's case.

"They have meticulously and methodically described a crime that someone else committed," Jason Williams, Defense Attorney said. "No information whatsoever said anything about Torence Hatch being involved."

Prosecutors were not available for comment Sunday.

The trial continues at 9:30 a.m.
