CUSHING, TX (KTRE) -
A Cushing man is in jail after authorities say he took horseplay too far, shooting his nephew in the head with a BB gun.
Sheriff Thomas Kerss said deputies began investigating the incident on the afternoon of May 3 in Cushing. Deputies determined that Trent Parker Levings, 18, of Cushing, had shot his nephew with a air rifle BB gun from across a fence line into a swimming pool, where the 12-year-old was playing with others.
The boy suffered a welt on the head.
Kerss said Levings behavior was, "horseplay-type with bad judgment."
Deputies obtained a warrant for Levings' arrest on Friday and arrested him on a charge of injury to a child. He remains in the jail on a $7,500 bond.
