Crockett Police arrest man in kidnapping of girlfriend

CROCKETT, TX (KTRE) - Crockett Police have charged a man with aggravated kidnapping and assault following an investigation into the abduction and beating of his girlfriend early Saturday.

According to a press release, officers were dispatched to residence on Sallas Street. When they arrived, they spoke with Tiffany McKnight, 31, who had numerous lacerations on her legs, hands and neck.

McKnight said her boyfriend, Archie Purvis, 42, saw McKnight walking down the street and stopped and forced her into his vehicle at knifepoint. He then drove to an unknown location and assaulted her, she said. He then put her back into the vehicle and drove to his residence on Sallas Street, according to the report.

A person nearby reported the incident to police.

Police arrested Purvis on charges of aggravated assault and aggravated kidnapping.

McKnight was treated for her injuries at a Crockett hospital.
