HUDSON, TX (KTRE) - Officials at Hudson ISD have closed the figure eight walking track for the remainder of the school year after a mother was attacked while walking Monday afternoon.
Sgt. Sergio Luna of the Angelina County Sheriff's Office said the mother was walking the track at Hudson High around 2 p.m. Monday when a Hispanic man ran up behind her and fondled her. The woman managed to break free and call 911.
Deputies with the office, Hudson ISD staff, Hudson ISD Police and Hudson Police responded to the scene and looked for the suspect, who ran away.
The suspect was last seen on State Highway 94, near the track by the High School softball fields.
Authorities have decided to close the walking track to the public and students for the rest of the school year. School staff members will monitor it during the day. Anyone who uses the track at night should use caution.
