Police: Lufkin man burns girlfriend's bed, but at least he warned her

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Lufkin Police arrested a man Wednesday night accused of torching his girlfriend's bed and telling her it was on fire on his way out of the house.

According to the report, police responded to the 400 block of Lazy Oaks Street at 7:59 p.m.

The girlfriend of Tristan Ballard, 25, of Lufkin, said Ballard poured gasoline on a bed and the clothes which were on it. He then used a lighter to ignite the bed and the clothes, walked into the living room and told his girlfriend that her bed was on fire and left the house, she said.

The woman managed to extinguish the fire and throw the clothes outside.

Officers managed to track down Ballard and say he confessed to burning the bed.

Police arrested him on a charge of arson. As of 11 a.m. Thursday, he was being held without bond in the Angelina County Jail.
