2004 Special Olympics Canceled

The Special Olymipic Spring Games in Lufkin have been called off due to the anticipation of bad weather.

The Special Olympic Program is a non-profit organization that gives people with special needs a chance to compete with each other. Last year, there were more than 600 competitors and 700 volunteers participating. The athletes practice for months before coming to the competition. The two-day event has both track and field games. But unfortunately, thanks to the weather, athletes will have to wait until next year to compete again.
