NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) -

Attorneys selected a jury Monday for the trial of a Nacogdoches man accused of burning his girlfriend's house in 2010.

Steven Lynn Skidmore, 47, will face that jury in District Judge Ed Klein's courtroom next Monday.

Firefighters responded to the blaze on Dec. 17, 2010, around 6:30 p.m. on FM 1878. The home, which belonged to Tammy Gilbert, was a total loss. Gilbert said her two dogs died in the blaze.

Gilbert said Skidmore did not want her to go to a Christmas party her employer was holding, but she did anyway.

When Gilbert arrived at the party, she learned her house was on fire.

Investigators say witnesses placed Skidmore at the scene.
