NACOGDOCHES COUNTY, TX (KTRE) -

A Nacogdoches sex offender did tell authorities he had moved, which he is required to do, but did it too late, according to the county's sheriff.

Sheriff Thomas Kerss said Danny Williams, 37, was found in compliance with requirements during a sweep deputies made a few weeks ago. But since then, he had changed addresses and did not tell authorities until after he moved.

Registration requirements state sex offenders must notify authorities that they will change addresses seven days before they do so.

Deputies arrested Williams on a third-degree felony charge of failure to comply with registration requirements.

Williams was convicted in 1996 on three counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child. The victim was a 13-year-old girl.
