LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

Lufkin Police have arrested a convicted sex offender accused of moving without notifying authorities.

According to an arrest warrant affidavit, Jamarcus Laray Hamilton, 30, of Diboll, moved from the 3700 block of FM 1818 to the 1800 block of East Denman Avenue without notice, which is against the law for registered sex offenders.

According to the report, Hamilton registered the Diboll address on Feb. 27, but an officer with DPS could not contact him at that residence on May 11.

The officer then learned Hamilton had moved to the new address after speaking with his father. The officer then spoke to the apartment manager at the new address and confirmed Hamilton was living there.

Lufkin Police arrested Hamilton Thursday on a charge of failure to register as a sex offender.

As of 10 a.m. Friday, bond had not yet been set for his release from the Angelina County Jail.

Hamilton was convicted in 1999 on a charge of aggravated sexual assault of a child. The victim was a 12-year-old girl.
