Lufkin motorcyclist hospitalized after colliding with car

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

An East Texas man is hospitalized in stable condition after his motorcycle collided with a car Friday evening, according to authorities.

Just before 7 p.m. Lufkin Police and Lufkin Fire responded to an accident at the intersection of Oleta Street and Atkinson Drive near the Texas Forestry Museum. Police said the driver of a silver Ford Crown Victoria turned left, hitting the Honda motorcycle.

The motorcycle driver, 22-year-old Hugo Montelongo, was taken by ambulance to a hospital. According to Lufkin Police Lieutenant Alton Lenderman, Montelongo was conscious at the scene and was being treated for head injuries. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Montelongo is in stable condition at Lufkin Memorial Hospital.

The driver of the car, Mildred Marshall, 74, was uninjured received a citation for failure to yield the right of way.

Montelongo was also ticketed for not carrying a drivers license and failing to insure his vehicle.
