A Lufkin area man was honored Tuesday night with a birthday present that just may stop traffic. Kelty's native Chester Collins recently turned 100 years old. The Kelty's Neighborhood Association honored his longevity by naming a traffic island after him. The traffic island sits at the corner of McMullen and Nile Streets in the Kelty's community. Collins says he never though he would ever have anything named after him. He also says he is happy that anyone who drives past the nicely landscaped traffic island will have nice thoughts of him.
