LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - A Pollok man pleaded guilty Thursday to having a sexual relationship with a 13-year-old girl, accepting a one-year jail sentence and probation.
Hayden Shawn McCleskey, 21, pleaded guilty to injury to a child, which was a lesser charge from the original aggravated sexual assault of a child.
McCleskey will begin 10 years of a probation sentence after he gets out of county jail.
McCleskey was arrested in June 2011, when, according to an arrest warrant affidavit, a girl told police she spent the night at a friend's house in February when McCleskey had sex with her. She reported a similar encounter a month-and-a-half later.
According to the report, police became aware of the incidents after the father reported it to police. Another witness was also interviewed.
A detective interviewed McCleskey on May 16 and, according to the report, admitted to having sex with the girl both times, even though he knew she was only 13.
District Attorney Clyde Herrington was not available for comment on Friday.
