NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) -

East Texas film makers have two awards under their belt and now are gearing up for the premiere of a documentary on a topic receiving international attention.

Gabriel Carmona carries the titles of founder, director, producer, writer and actor for his independent film company called Nac Film Theory.

Carmona is excited about his latest production documenting the smuggling of banned hispanic literature books to Arizona high school students.

He leaves this week to market the documentary which addresses chicano injustices.

"This is the fist film we've done that's really gotten that exposure," Carmona said. "The trailer itself for the film has gotten more views then some of our actual films. So this is the one that is going to be the most nationally recognized. At the same time when people go to watch the trailer they see all the other work that we do as well."

Carmona's work can be found at Nac Film Theory's YouTube channel and on its Facebook page.

Nac Film Theory won awards in film festivals in Nacogdoches and Tyler.

Next month they'll be featured in Texas Monthly Magazine.
