Man Charged In Fatal Drunk Driving Accident Had Prior DWI Charges

Department of Public Safety officers say the man arrested in a fatal drunk driving accident has a prior history of driving under the influence. Officers arrested 25 year old Clinton Caudle on an intoxicated manslaughter charge. According to officers, caused an accident on May 2, 2004, that killed Marina Sanches and injured three other people, including a five year old girl. DPS officers say Caudle has one drunk driving conviction and two prior drunk driving charges. They also say he was he was driving on a suspended driver's license and that he had no automobile insurance at the time of the accident.

Caudle is currently out of the Angelina County Jail on a 50 thouand dollars bond. If convicted, he faces up to life in prison.

DPS officers say Caudle now faces an additional charge for having no liability insurance at the time of the accident. The five year old girl hurt in the May 2, 2004, accident was flown to a Houston hospital for treatment. That child is now home and preparing to undergo several months of rehabilitation.
