Goodrich man killed after truck driver pulls in front of him

GOODRICH, TX (KTRE) -

A Goodrich man died Tuesday morning after a truck driver pulled into his path while pulling out of a truck stop in Goodrich.

Urias Reyes, 24, died at the scene.

According to the DPS report, Reyes was driving a 1993 Mazda MX-6 northbound on US 59 at 6:58 a.m. and hit a trailer pulled by a Freightliner, driven by James Dean Stanton, of Oscoda, Minn. Stanton was pulling out of the Truck Stop and failed to yield right-of-way, according to the report.

According to TxDOT spokeswoman Kathi White, the wreck shut down both northbound lanes in front of the Truck Stop.

Both lanes were open by 9:30 a.m.
