FULL ELECTION RESULTS: Kerss out, Bridges in; Sanches beats Hill

Posted: Updated:

Nacogdoches County Constable Jason Bridges will be the new sheriff after taking 57 percent of the vote and beating incumbent Sheriff Thomas Kerss.

Former DPS trooper Greg Sanches is well on his way to becoming the Republican nominee in Angelina County, taking 75 percent of the vote over Angelina County Capt. Allen Hill.

"I'm very excited about it and I want to thank everyone who came out and supported us," Bridges said. "None of this would be possible without them. They want more proactive police work and more work in the community. I'm not going to take that for granted. I want to thank Sheriff Thomas Kerss for all his years of service and we wish him the best in his career."

"I just want to thank the citizens for putting their faith in me," Sanches said. "I'll be working hard for the November election."
