ANGELINA COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - The Angelina County Sheriff's Office is charging a man accused of sexually assaulting a girl.
Benito Acevedo, of Corrigan is charged with second degree indecency with a child, and first degree aggravated sexual assault of a child.
According to an arrest affidavit the victim recently made an outcry to her grandmother that she had been sexually assaulted by the suspect.
The affidavit reported separate alleged incidents when she claimed Acevedo inappropriately touched her.
In an interview conducted by a counselor at the Children's Alliance Center, a child advocacy group, the victim stated that when she was about 10 when the suspect touched her. In the interview, the girl also stated that Acevedo forced her to perform sexual acts on him when she around the age of 5.
Acevedo was arrested June 1 and booked into the Angelina County Jail; he was released after he posted a $100,000 collective bond.
