Former Panther and Aggie Jorvorskie Lane signs with Miami Dolphins

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Another former Lufkin Panther and Texas A&M Aggie is headed to the NFL. Jorvorskie Lane has signed with the Miami Dolphins and is the last member added to their 90-man camp roster. Lane admitted Monday that he is very pleased to have a chance to make an NFL roster.

"I'm very happy about getting this opportunity," said Lane from Miami. "I know it is a long process to make the final roster, so I am just embracing everything and making sure that I am on top of my game."

The 5-11, 277-pound fullback rushed for 2,090 yards on 461 carries and 49 touchdowns at Texas A&M. Before that he rushed for 3,671 yards and a whooping 70 touchdowns at Lufkin High School. Although his play time may be limited, Lane says his expectations will not change if he gets a chance to make the team during the season.

"My expectations are the same and have been since I started playing football, and that is to punish people," said Lane. "Whether that is with the ball or without the ball, but I definitely expect to be scoring touchdowns, I always enjoy scoring."

After leaving A&M Lane went undrafted. After college he scored 12 touchdowns and had 326 yards in 2010 for the West Texas Roughnecks of the Indoor Football League. Lane has not played since that season and will look to make the Miami roster under the direction of his former A&M head coach and current Dolphins offensive coordinator Mike Sherman. Lane hopes that his opportunity will inspire others out there to continue to pursue their dreams.

"I am excited about it because it is a great story and a great inspiration for kids too," said Lane. "It shows them not to give up on your dream because if you want, and you chase it, you can get it."

The Dolphins training camp will be feature on the HBO series 'Hard Knocks' and the 5-episode series begins on August 7. Several cuts are made during training camps, and we will keep you updated on if Lane makes his first NFL roster on KTRE and
