NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) -

A Dallas woman says seatbelts kept her and her two children, including a very young infant, from getting hurt in a two-vehicle accident on the Nacogdoches loop Monday afternoon.

Tammie Townsend said she was traveling from Dallas and had missed a turn on the loop, just north of the State Highway 7 West exit and attempted a legal turnaround.

It is unclear who is to blame, but Townsend said she was rearended in her SUV by a pickup, around 1:40 p.m.

Both vehicles went into the grassy median and the SUV was turned on its side.

Nobody from either vehicle was injured. Townsend said the seatbelts saved the lives of her family members.

"I saved my baby's life, my life and everybody's life in the car," Townsend said. "Wear them seatbelts. Thank you Jesus."

According to police, Lewis Townsend tried making a U-turn at the median crossover and went into the path of a northbound pickup.
