NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) -

Funeral services for Beth Brice, 54, will be held Saturday, June 23 at 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church sanctuary in Nacogdoches.  Visitation is scheduled for Friday afternoon from 5 – 8 at Laird Funeral Home.

The Nacogdoches family law attorney died overnight Monday, in what family members and colleagues say is shocking news.

Brice's husband went in Tuesday morning to wake his wife up and found her unresponsive.

An autopsy will determine cause of death, but police say it happened from natural causes.

Brice was a family law attorney.

"Beth was really part of the courthouse family," said District Judge Campbell Cox. "She always had a smile on her face. Always had a twinkle in her eye. Always very professional, polite, sweet. Willing to take court appointments for us. Help out. She helped so many people."

After hearing the news, clients came by her office to pay their condolences.

Brice was at work just Monday, the picture of health.

"A true advocate for families and just ethical, friendly, professional, just a constant professional," said Rebecca Carlton, the executive director at CASA.

She's survived by her husband, Rick, and two college-age sons.

She was an active member and volunteer for First United Methodist Church.

"Not only did she talk the talk, as they say, but she walked the walk in her faith and you can see that in her, in the way that she handled her business and the way she lived her life and the way she cared about people," said Pat Warner, Brice's assistant.

Services are pending.
