Lufkin mayor works to have unity among city and county leaders

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

Unity, pride, and care are the core ideas behind Lufkin Mayor Bob Brown's plan to repair communication among local government. Ten of Angelina County's top leaders met in a special, two hour meeting Thursday to hash out any bruised feelings and discuss moving forward.

According to Mayor Brown, The Lufkin/ Angelina County Chamber of Commerce, Angelina College, Lufkin ISD, The City of Lufkin, the Angelina County judge, and the state representative all work well separately. He thinks they can be even stronger working together.

"At least, we can represent each other as we're out in the community, hearing some of the negatives and some of the positives. We can share those, and we can all stay together and watch each other's back," said Brown.

This meeting was something Mayor Brown says he's dreamed of having for years. He plans for everyone to come together and meet again in early August. The leaders are discussing ideas for a five year plan to work together.
