Woden superintendent resigns

Posted: Updated:
WODEN, TX (KTRE) -

In a unanimous vote, Woden ISD is accepting the resignation of superintendent Brent Hawkins.

Hawkins says it was a hard decision to make, but he has accepted a new position in Huntsville, for Region 6 service center as Deputy Director.

Hawkins served as superintendent for 6 years, the last 4 in Woden.

He says this is the first time a superintendent has resigned from Woden in 50 years.

"Both for myself and for the school district, if I had stayed, I'd always wondered what it would have been like if I had left. And so, it was just the right opportunity at the right time. And, we feel like we led the path the good Lord laid out for us," said Hawkins.

Hawkins' last day is August 10.

School board members voted to use a superintendent search service to find Hawkins' replacement.
