ZAVALLA, TX (KTRE) - A man who has been fired once as Zavalla's top cop is back in town after the mayor named him the newest interim chief.
The hiring comes a week after Mayor Jim Davis demoted the previous interim, Joey Courtney.
The city council fired Jim Hodges in July 2011, just two months after he got the position.
Hodges threw his hat in the ring for the open sheriff's position and was the Democratic nominee until he was disqualified after it was discovered he had voted in the Republican primary.
Davis said he brought Hodges in to handle a disciplinary problem, which would be addressed at the next regularly called city council meeting on July 9.
Before then, Davis has called a special called meeting for Thursday night, where he said he will discuss another disciplinary issue. On the agenda, it lists an executive session discussing a personnel matter concerning City Secretary Rhonda Pigg.
