Election 2012: Which candidate is better prepared for an alien invasion?
A recent survey determined that more people believe President Barack Obama would better handle an alien invasion that Gov. Mitt Romney.
(RNN) - Forget the economy, social issues and foreign policy.
For a select few, the question of who is better suited to lead the country - Barack Obama or Mitt Romney - will hinge on who is better prepared to handle an alien invasion.
After all, it's not just national security, but galactic security that's at stake.
A recent survey by the National Geographic Channel shows more than one-third of Americans believe in UFOs.
And in case a fleet of cat-eating Melmacians - a la ALF, albeit much more malicious - invade the planet, two-thirds of the 1,114 people surveyed believe Obama would be better suited to handle said invasion.
In case the then-president is out of the country when the aliens invade, many Americans would be content to delegate the duties of saving humanity to a superhero of choice. The survey showed 21 percent would dial up the Hulk, while 12 percent would send out the Bat Signal in distress, calling the caped crusader Batman into action.
Confidence waned for Spiderman, who only got 8 percent of the vote.
The survey did have one glaring omission - it did not ask which candidate would be better prepared to handle a zombie apocalypse.
Though, with all due respect to the candidates, Will Smith has a proven track record destroying both.
With President Obama's VP pick already locked up in Joe Biden, do we smell a Romney/Smith 2012 ticket?
