LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - A judge sentenced a Lufkin man to 12 years in prison Friday morning following a pre-sentence investigation on an accusation that he molested a then 15-year-old girl over a period of years.
Luz Antonio Solis, 38, pleaded guilty earlier this month on a charge of indecency with a child.
Lufkin Police arrested him in December after the victim told her teacher and counselor that she was being molested. Solis later incriminated himself in a phone call with the victim, which was monitored by police.
During testimony on Friday, Solis' attorney, Al Charanza, asked Solis what he would tell the victim if she were in the courtroom.
"I would tell her I'm deeply deeply sorry for what I did," said Solis. "I think about this every day. There's not a day that goes by that I don't think about it."
"Why did you do it?" said Charanza.
"I just wasn't thinking," said Solis.
Solis explained he was concerned about his wife and kids in this whole situation. At the time of the incident, Solis described his wife was going through cancer and they were having tough family times.
