PANOLA COUNTY, TX (KSLA) - The Texas Highway Patrol has confirmed the identity of the man killed early Thursday morning in Panola County.

They say 39-year-old Kevin James Mote was driving a 2001 Mitsubishi Montero heading north on Highway 59 near County Road 4215 between Carthage and Tenaha, when he ran into the back of a tractor trailer tanker hauling salt water.

Mote was not wearing a seatbelt at the time. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The wreck is still under investigation.
