BURKE, TX (KTRE) -

A Houston man pleads guilty to possessing 20 pounds of marijuana in the trunk of a car he was traveling in.

James Edward Watson Jr., 20, of Houston, was sentenced to four years deferred adjudication and is ordered to pay a five hundred dollar fine for marijuana possession.

Watson was arrested along with Delbert Earl Mattox, 20, of Michigan, and Jordan Williams, 19, of Michigan and charged with possession of marijuana in February 2011.

According to the report, State Trooper Heath White observed the trio speeding at 8:56 p.m. on U.S. 59 in Burke. When he pulled them over, he said they appeared nervous, and he smelled marijuana. He conducted a probable cause search of the vehicle and found the marijuana in the trunk.

The pot carries a street value of $20,000, according to DPS.
