LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -
The body of a man killed in an early morning traffic accident Thursday in Lufkin has been identified.
Charlie Eugene Brown, 39, of Lufkin was taken to a morgue in Beaumont in hopes of identifying him.
DPS troopers identified Brown through fingerprint analysis. Brown has a criminal record that includes resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, and driving without a license.
According to a DPS report, Brown was walking in the outside lane of Highway 59 South when he was struck by a mini van. Reynoldo Solis was the driver of the 2008 Toyota Sienna that hit him.
Investigators say Solis was traveling southbound along Highway 59 North, near South Redland Baptist Church, when he noticed Brown walking in the outside lane and tried to avoid hitting him, but could not. Brown died at the scene. At the time, Brown was not carrying any identification, according to Trooper David Henry, Lufkin DPS.
