NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) -

Nacogdoches Police Department Picked up their newest addition to the narcotics team Thursday evening.

Hannah, their new drug dog, arrived at a Houston airport where she received a warm welcome from her handler, Officer Brian Eggebrecht. This is Eggebrecht's first time to be partnered with a drug dog.

Training for the new team will begin at the end of the month and will last a couple months. The two-year-old German Shepherd was brought in from Riverside, California.

NPD's previous drug dog, Rhictor, was purchased by Nacogdoches District Attorney's Office in June. Rhictor will continue patrolling Nacogdoches with his handler, Stephen Godfrey. Precinct Four Constable Jason Bridges says Godfrey will be appointed as a reserve deputy with his agency in the coming weeks. Bridges also says Rhictor will join the sheriff's office when he assumes his new position next year.
