Diboll man gets probation for burning child

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

A Diboll man pleaded guilty Monday to burning his girlfriend's five-year-old son with a camping lighter, accepting a probation sentence.

Diboll Police arrested Jamaine Danard Rogers, 23, in June 2011, when the boy's mother reported then incident to police. According to Sgt. Brandan Lovell, Rogers burned the boy inside each of his legs.

Rogers was charged with injury to a child. District Judge Barry Bryan allowed him to plead to endangering a child and approved the five-year probation sentence.
