NACOGDOCHES COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - The family of a Kilgore man killed in a gas well accident will be filing a lawsuit against the company with which he worked.

Jeremiah Keith Neely, 34, died July 5 after an end cap apparently came off a high-pressure pumping rig. Neely died at the scene and two other people were injured.

Douglas Burks, a legal assistant at Tefteller Law Firm, confirmed the family will be suing the company, Platinum Pressure Pumping, Inc.

"The company hasn't allowed us to go to the scene, so it's not possible to file a lawsuit yet," Burks said. "We have investigators that are supposed to view the site tomorrow."

Burks explained that the death was more than just an accident.

"Accidents like this don't happen by chance," Burks said. "Jeremy was the safety guy there. He kept up with regulations from OSHA and the railroad commission, making sure everything is safe before employees approached the work site. If you kill him, something's gone wrong."

Burks said the lawsuit may be filed next week.
