LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - A Lufkin man pleaded guilty Friday to beating another man, who was staying at his then-wife's house, with a crowbar in October 2010.
Max Anthony Vann, 36, pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Judge Gerald Goodwin approved the five-year probation sentence.
According to a previous report, Vann came to his wife's house, located on the 100 block of Edward's Cove, and started beating another man with a crowbar, hitting him several times. The woman tried to stop Vann and received a small laceration on her left arm.
The man being beaten eventually got away out the back door. The responding deputy was able to get four witnesses to describe what they saw.
The victim was treated and released from a Lufkin hospital.
Vann and his wife divorced the next day, according to his attorney, Al Charanza.
In addition to answering to a probation officer for the next five years, Vann must also attend an anger management class, pay a $750 fine and pay $2,387 in restitution.
