ESCAPED: Marques Tervon Franklin, 18 (Source: Bowie County Sheriff's Office)
BOWIE CO., TX (KSLA) -
Twelve hours of freedom will cost Bowie County escapee Marques Tervon Franklin an additional criminal charge now that he is back behind bars.
Authorities say they caught Franklin about 6 p.m. Saturday, nearly 12 hours after he escaped from the Bowie County Jail Annex on Front Street in Texarkana sometime between 5:30 and 6:30 Saturday morning.
Bowie County Investigators say they learned that Franklin was at a residence on Shellwood in Wake Village. Authorities say Franklin was looking out the door just as Lt. Jerl Palmore and Investigator Robby McCarver approached the residence.
Franklin slammed the door, ran out the back, and jumped the back fence, authorities say. The officers, assisted by other Bowie County deputies, Wake Village police and Nash police officers, then chased Franklin, Bowie County officials say.
They caught Franklin and took him to the Bi State Justice Center. An investigation on how he managed to escape continues.
He was being held on $111,000 total bond, pending two counts of robbery, unauthorized use of a vehicle, two counts of evading arrest, and failure to identify. Now, Franklin will also face escape charges, authorities say.
