Former Nacogdoches Co. commissioner, wife appear in court

A former Nacogdoches County commissioner and his wife, indicted on federal tax violations, pleaded not guilty to three counts in federal court Friday.

The indictment alleges Reggie and Deborah Cotton conspired to cover up their income from a cleaning service.

Federal prosecutors claim they failed to pay $97,000 in taxes.

They're scheduled to be back in court on Sept. 5.
