LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - A federal judge has granted a continuance in a case of two Lufkin residents accused of trying to sell marijuana in their home.

Jury selection and trial for Marcel Cornelius Montgomery, 35, and Porsche Denise Davis, 25, is set for Sept. 12. A final pre-trial is scheduled for Sept. 5.

Any motion for continuance must be filed by Aug. 15.

Montgomery and Davis are charged with possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance, possession of a firearm during a drug trafficking offense and felon in possession of a firearm.

Lufkin Police arrested them on May 20 after responding to a disturbance.

Officers said they discovered approximately two pounds of marijuana and two handguns inside the home.

The marijuana, a .25 caliber handgun, and a box of .380 caliber ammunition were found inside a gym bag, according to police.

A further search led police to a dirty clothes basket where they located a .380 caliber handgun.

Both Davis and Montgomery have prior felony convictions, making them ineligible to possess a firearm.
