Over the past month, we have received new weather software for our weather graphics. Some of the software has already been installed, while other programs and features will be coming to a television set near you in the near future.
A couple years ago, in the fall of 2010 to be exact, we received a brand new HD weather system that was a huge upgrade with many new features than the systems we had in the past.
Just this past week, we installed an upgrade to our on-air graphics system. If you have noticed a little more flare and pop to your weather presentation recently, this is from this recent upgrade.
Our Exclusive Storm Prediction (ESP:LIVE) radar system will also be getting an overhaul in the coming months as new radar technology will allow us to better detect the difference between whether or not the hydrometeors falling from the sky are raindrops, hailstones, or perhaps sleet pellets or snow flurries. We will also be able to better estimate rainfall totals from rain and thunderstorms that fall over rural or isolated areas in Deep East Texas.
Finally, our weather graphics provider will be providing us with the ability to work in a 3-D environment in real-time, with the ability to create 3-D objects and interchange them as part of our weather story.
