East Mountain Police investigating homicide, suspect in custody

EAST MOUNTAIN, TX (KLTV) -

An East Texas man was arrested Saturday in connection with the stabbing that left another person dead.

Officials tell us that 46-year old James Nathaniel Nash was arrested Saturday for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

"Around here things like this don't happen," said neighbor, Michael Dunn, "this is a calm quiet neighborhood where we really don't have problems with anyone."

He is still in the Upshur County Jail being held on one-million dollars bond.

The East Mountain Police Department is investigating a homicide involving a stabbing of an individual in an early morning argument at a residence within the City of East Mountain.

Upshur County deputies and Interim Police Chief, Betty Davis, were called to respond to a disturbance in the 7200 Block of FM 3358 at approximately 3:30 a.m. on this date.

One arrest has been made. No further information is available at this time pending notification of family members of the deceased and continuation of the criminal investigation.

Interim Chief of Police, Betty Davis, would like to publicly give appreciation to the Upshur County Sheriff's Office deputies, Upshur County CID investigators, Gilmer Police Department and Longview Police Department for their help and assistance in this investigation.
