FLAGSTAFF, AZ (CBS5/AP) -

The body of a Minnesota man who's been missing since late July has been located and identified in northern Arizona.

Coconino County Sheriff's officials said Thursday that dental records confirmed the body is that of 27-year-old Shaun Rentz of White Bear Lake, MN.

Rentz' vehicle was found abandoned July 31 parked in the lot of the Oak Creek Canyon Scenic Overview off of Highway 89A. An extensive search followed and lasted for days.

Sheriff's officials said a hiker last Sunday came across a decomposed body in Pumphouse Wash at the north end of Oak Creek Canyon.

The body was taken to the county Medical Examiners Office for an autopsy. Authorities said the cause of death remains under investigation.
