Posted: Updated:
SABINE COUNTY, TX (KTRE) -

Copper wire thieves have created a hazardous situation inside an electric substation in Sabine County, forcing company officials to schedule work throughout the night. At least one power outage in the area is expected.

According to a Deep East Texas Electric Coop press release, the thieves have created thousands of dollars in damage at the Six Mile substation.

Any outage will affect customers in the Six Mile and Fairmount areas.

The Sabine County Sheriff's Office is investigating the theft at that station and other substations.
