SFA football players report for camp

NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) - Thursday was like the calm before the storm for the Stephen F. Austin football team. It was time to check in to the dorms for camp. The entire team, from new freshman to veteran seniors, checked in on campus and prepared for camp to begin Friday night.

Some players were carrying what they called 'the essentials,' just a pillow and blankets. But others were seen bringing in big screen TV's and more.

Head coach JC Harper says it interesting to observe the team coming together through this act of unity while living together.

"For us as coaches, that is fun to watch them blend together," said Harper. "To be able to see our team develop and come together, I'm excited to see where we are in a month."

All practices during camp will start after 6:00 p.m. in order to try and avoid some of the 100 degree heat. SFA athletics has also announced that Homer Bryce Stadium, including the track, will be closed to the public during all workouts.

The Lumberjacks kick off the season Thursday, August 30th against SW Oklahoma at Homer Bryce.
