Sheriff: double murder connected to month-long crime spree

A double murder in one East Texas county may have been part of a month-long crime spree.

Donny Lee Greenhow, 32, is wanted for allegedly shooting 74-year-old Peter Shick and his wife, 55- year-old Latrisha in their home near Chandler. The bodies were discovered on Friday.

Authorities say that right now, they worry that Greenhow could be anywhere.

"He is armed," said Sheriff Pat Burnett. "We do not know where in the state of Texas he is at this time."

Monday morning, authorities announced they were able to connect Donny Greenhow to the murders by his fingerprints left behind in this stolen SUV out of Kaufman County.

"He's stolen cars before and never had to kill anybody and that's what makes it so vital that we get this information out because he's willing to do that now," said Burnett.

Authorities say Greenhow was a family friend of the victims. Authorities say the victims were shot to death; their bodies were so badly decomposed it was at first difficult to make that determination. Latrisha's body was discovered in the kitchen and her husband, Peter, was found in their bedroom.

"The victims had been in their trailer house for several days, upwards of nine days before a family member notified us," said Burnett.

Investigators believe that after Greenhow shot them, he stole their truck and went to Waco, where the truck was later found. Although authorities have not determined a clear motive, they say this appears to be part of Greenhow's month-long, cross-county crime spree.

"At this time we do know that over the last month he had hit several different places and kind of moving from one place to another," said authorities.

They say Greenhow could be anywhere, likely driving another stolen vehicle.

Authorities also identified Greenhow on surveillance video in a Dallas pawn shop driving the victim's white Dodge truck. If you have any information, call police immediately.
