WODEN, TX (KTRE) - The search for a superintendent for Woden Independent School District was extensive, but the man worked across campus from the office he'll be moving into.
Woden High School principal Brady Taylor was hired on Saturday. Taylor has served as principal for one year after prior principal and assistant principal jobs in Central and Martinsville school districts.
"Today was very busy," said Taylor. "Teachers return next week and there's a lot of preparation."
Taylor says he is hopeful a replacement for high school leadership will be determined before next week. "It might not happen, but that's my goal," said Taylor. "This is a difficult time to be hiring. A lot of teachers and administrators are locked into contracts."
Another immediate goal for Taylor is to do some long range planning with the school board that hired him. "We plan on meeting on Thursday, just me and the board. We can sit down and take a look at what needs to be done," said Taylor.
Taylor is replacing former superintendent Dr. Brent Hawkins. He's taking a job with Region 6 Education Service Center in Huntsville.
