The town of Malakoff is celebrating the induction of one of its basketball trams from the past into a Hall of Fame.

The Malakoff Colored High School, later renamed Lincoln High School, won the 1954 State High School Basketball Championship in the Prairie View Interscholastic League, the "colored" equivalent of the Texas UIL.

On July 28th, the 1954 Malakoff Colored/Lincoln High School Basketball team, their coach Carl Anderson, players J.D. Richardson and Homer Ray Trimble, and the town of Malakoff were inducted into the PVIL Hall of fame and honored at a special banquet and ceremony in Houston.
