The Diboll Lumberjacks finished just short of the playoffs in 2011. This year's team is without runningback Terrence Taylor, but coach Shane Adair is excited about his group of seniors.
"I think our strength is that we have a lot of seniors coming back that have been starting since they were sophomores," said Adair. "We have a lot of leadership coming back and a lot of experience and that is a key we are looking for."
The 'Jacks do have 16 returning letterman from a team that went 2-2 in district last season. But Diboll was picked to miss the playoffs in 2012 by Dave Campbell's Magazine. Coach Adair doesn't want to worry about expectations though.
"I have not even opened a Texas Football magazine this year," said Adair. "I have not heard our kids talk anything about it either. We set goals when we got here for two a days, and that is our main thing to try and reach those goals we set for ourselves."
Diboll has their first scrimmage at home on Thursday August 23rd. The first game of the regular season will be against Fairfield on August 31st at Lumberjack Stadium.
